Hyjack.TV is a mobile phone application in which users are able to broadcast commentary of sporting events, allowing other users to sync up and watch events with different commentary. Users can broadcast live to thousands of users across the platform. Sync up with other users and watch top sporting events with exclusive commentary. Listeners can select your favourite sporting events and view various Hyjackers who are currently broadcasting or are scheduled to broadcast.

Objective

Our client themselves are keen followers of sporting events and sports commentators. They approached us with a business vision for sporting enthuasists to easily broadcast their own commentary, without needing to be a professional commentator. They specifically wanted this app to be available on both iOS and Android so that people can broadcast or tune in while on the go.

Hyjack.TV would be a mobile phone application in which users are able to broadcast commentary of sporting events, allowing other users to sync up and watch events with different commentary. The broadcasters are known as “Hyjackers” and are able to sign up and select a sporting event to commentate. They can invite other Hyjackers to co-host events.

DigiGround Work Process

When our client decided to build, they started by searching for top app development companies. Through organic searches, they found us ranking at the top and approached us to turn their idea into a fully functioning app.

The client had no brand identity, so our graphic designers put together a suitable logo that captured the Hyjack.TV brand and personality. After many discussions with the client, we finalised the above logo.

After comprehending the client’s requirements, we kick started the app development project by building a working prototype. Our client carefully reviewed the prototype, and once all the designs were approved, our Sydney app developers got started on building the actual mobile app.

The biggest challenge was developing the actual live streaming functionality. We needed to ensure that the server can handle the large number of users we expected to tune in to live broadcasts. It also took many tests to get the broadcast working as intended across different devices. After much programming, testing and changing, we were finally able to perfect the live broadcasts.

The result was an app that allows sports enthusiasts to follow their favourite sporting events, discover amazing commentators and grow their own following. Hyjack.TV has seen a very positive response from its target demographic and we are excited to see how large this live broadcasting platform will grow.
