About

Foundation Sports is a football academy run by Gus Cerro, a professional football veteran and a former NSL player. He established Foundation Sports in 2003 with a pilot program that was developed into a multi-program business, offering one-on-one squad programs to kindergarten program.

Objective

The goal for Foundation Sports was to build a business domestically with the aim of eventually providing overseas sporting opportunities for academy members. To make this happen, Foundation Sports would need to boost their online presence and position within search engine results pages. That’s when DigiGround came in.

DigiGround Work Process

DigiGround worked with Foundation Sports to create a new DigiStart WordPress website that is set up with baseline search engine optimisation (SEO). Within the website development package, we offered images, copywriting and a transfer of content from their previous website to the new site.

The Foundation Sports website featured an ecommerce section that acted as a place to sell football programs, merchandise and promotional items. DigiGround researched ecommerce payment options and made suggestions for ones that suited their needs. We also provided the client with a payment portal that they could eventually manage themselves.

The website was set up for search engine rankings. DigiGround’s marketing team conducted keyword research and added the most effective and appropriate keywords to each page on the site. We also added a blog for dynamic content. This process required the creation of a Google Search Console account, submission of the sitemap to all search engines, connecting Google Analytics with the site to track website traffic trends, and ensuring that information on social media accounts were consistent with the website’s content.

After the new website went live, DigiGround continued to provide technical support by providing website updates, WordPress training for Foundation Sports staff members and work projects for their referral partners.

Our goal was to ensure that the business had the ability to scale and gain access to a highly engaged football audience across Australia. By creating a new website and applying SEO techniques Foundation Sports, they were now able to leverage their wealth of experience and fantastic services against other competitors in the industry.
