You’ve put hours and hours into developing your iOS app – but your job isn’t done yet. You still need to submit it to the Apple App Store.

Listing your app on the various app stores requires you to register as a developer with the different providers. Each process is different and has different costs association to them, and so we will try to break down into a few simple steps how to get your apps on the Apple App Store.

Submitting your App to the Apple Store

The App Store requires you to have an Apple ID and then Enroll as a developer. There are two types of enrolments.

Individual – 99 USD per membership year
If you are an individual or sole proprietor/single person business, get started by signing in with your Apple ID with two-factor authentication turned on. You’ll need to provide basic personal information, including your legal name and address.
Organization – 149 AU per membership year
If you’re enrolling your organization, you’ll need an Apple ID with two-factor authentication turned on, as well as the following to get started:

A D-U-N-S® Number
Legal Entity Status
Legal Binding Authority
A Website

Non-profit organisations, accredited educational institutions, and government entities that plan to distribute only free apps on the App Store may be eligible for a fee waiver

So, to get started, you will need to create your Apple Account and activate two-factor authentication. Once you have this, you can go to https://developer.apple.com/programs/enroll/ and start your application. Applying as an individual is straightforward and easy.

If you are enrolling as an organisation, you will need a D-U-N-S® Number which is a unique nine-digit number that identifies business entities on a location-specific basis. D-U-N-S® Number are assigned and maintained by Dun and Bradstreet. You can request your D-U-N-S® Number by using the lookup tool at https://developer.apple.com/enroll/duns-lookup/#!/search

If you don’t have a D-U-N-S® Number, you will need to request one. This process can take anywhere from 5 days to 4 weeks. After it is issued, you may still need to wait 7 days before Apple is updated.

Finally, when you have your D-U-N-S® Number and everything else ready, you can submit your application to become an organisation developer.

Apply to Apple and they will approve your application which generally takes a few days.
