Whether you’ve been living under a rock or have sworn off social for being quite ironically unsocial, you cannot have missed some of the greatest viral challenges to grace our devices.

Think back to a time when a duck face was something you would find on a waterfowl, and a plank was a long flat piece of wood. Or better yet, imagine a time when a challenge, was something you patted yourself on the back for rather than videotaping it and displaying it to your network.

Nowadays everything we do has an audience. From the most mundane to the most talented you can be sure to find an interested person or even so, someone else just like you who did it too.

But every now and then, something happens that sweeps the world breaking through boarders and reaching you at your core. Sometimes these things make you laugh, sometimes they make you cry and sometimes they leave you thinking “What the f@#$ did I just watch?!”. And that’s what this blog is about.

A viral phenomenon is born

It’s a dedication to the participants of viral challenges. That’s right, today we’re paying homage to the time wasters, the socially curious, the enthusiastic exhibitionists and the risky reckless. How? With a viral challenge of course.

This video is for the duckface selfie society who repeatedly stared into their phone at the risk of retina damage. The hot pepper challenge chiefs who tortured themselves for the art of the game. The perilous planking people who teetered tops of trees. The running man clan who delighted us with their musical movements. The dabbing dancers who dominated the field. The ice bucket frozen friends who balanced hypothermia with awareness and finally, the mannequin models who stood still in time. Maybe you’ve been one or maybe you’ve seen one, either way, you’ve been effected by one.

So why has the viral phenomenon been so effective?

For the very reasons we lose an hour of our lives every time we check something on Facebook. It’s entertaining. It’s absorbing. It’s inclusive, and most of all it’s emotional. Invoking happiness, sadness, concern or confusion.

Whether, you’ve started a flash mob, bashed a clown, stuck a condom on your head or attempted the Harlem shake, this one is for you and all the crazy stuff that you do.
