If you’ve been writing blogs for some time, you probably have a large archive of posts. They might have once been popular, but now they’re not getting as much attention. How can you get people to read your old blog posts? We’ve got some ideas that will help you revive them:
What to do with old blog posts
Create a ‘roundup’ post
Draw attention to your blogs by creating a roundup of your old posts. Create a ‘best posts’ list in a particular category – it’ll help your new readers find information easier, and help your regular readers rediscover their favourite posts.
Update your old posts
Technologies change and new things are constantly popping up. You don’t want your visitors reading outdated information, so bring them up to date with the latest information. Add new statistics, strategies and examples. Make sure your visitors know these posts have been updated so they can have a read.
Create a series of emails
If you’ve written a lot of posts on similar topics, you can easily turn this into an email series. This is a great marketing strategy that will give your email subscribers lots of useful information in the one place. Plus, you’ll have the chance to gain new subscribers.
Republish your posts
Did know that some websites, like LinkedIn and Quora, allow you to republish old posts? It gives your blogs exposure to new potential readers without requiring much work on your part.
Post on social media
Don’t be afraid to share your old blogs on social media, even if you already did it when they were originally posted. You may have new social media followers who missed your original posts. And if your existing followers already saw your posts, they may have forgotten about it by now.
Your old blog posts are an excellent source of information for your readers. Don’t let them go to waste after you spent all that time researching and writing them. Update or republish them so that they can have a second chance to be read.
