WestWords recently held a very successful online fundraising auction with our Oktion app. We’re extremely proud of the results they have achieved, and we are so grateful that WestWords chose Oktion to help them with their auction event.
WestWords is a not-for-profit organisation based in Sydney’s West. Their mission is to help children and young people in the local community to improve their literacy skills and gain a pathway of literary opportunity. WestWords is all about building, creating and empowering communities in Western Sydney.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, venues had to cancel any live auction events being held within their premises. This meant that WestWords was unable to carry out their usual fundraising initiatives. But that’s where Oktion came in.
To help them raise funds for this important caused, WestWords used the Oktion app to host their COV-ART: WestWords Fundraising Auction. The auction was held over the month of June and featured beautiful artwork from local illustrators and artists. Their generous donations will go a long way in helping WestWords to promote and encourage writing, ready and story-making by children and young people. This power of self-expression and creativity will truly help them to change their lives and give Western Sydney a voice.
The Oktion app was a huge success among those who took part in the fundraising auction. Users were able to bid on artworks from any location at any time through their mobile phone or computer. This flexibility enabled WestWords to engage people who might not otherwise be able to attend a fundraising event in person. The Oktion app took online bids and donations in real time, and the payment and invoicing process was fully automated. This allowed participants to give to an important cause while still being able to practice social distancing at home.
We could not be happier about the results achieved by WestWords. It has been a pleasure working with them and we look forward to helping them again in future.
