When it comes to writing, we’ve all been told to focus on quality over quantity. And this stands true when you’re writing content for your website.
If you know anything about SEO, you have likely heard that content is king. But this doesn’t explain the whole process. Google penalises content that’s just been written for the sake of it. Most, if not all, search engines don’t like sites with irrelevant, thin or repetitive content. What type of content does Google champion? Here’s a look at how to write good SEO blogs.
How to Write Good SEO Blogs
Choose good SEO keywords for your blog
Get the most out of your blogs by choosing good SEO keywords to target. The way you find these keywords will depend on your technical knowledge. You can use web tools such as Google Keyword Planner, SEMRush and AhRefs to find good longtail keywords to target. Most of these services are also free to use.
Let’s say you want to write a blog on ‘creating content for social media’. You can use Keyword Planner to find out the number of people searching for this topic every month. If there are enough searches for this term, then consider using it in your main headings and throughout the content.
Start writing your blogs
I suggest reading our previous blogs, How Blogs will Boost your SEO and Write your Articles – Blogging. These will give you extra knowledge to help you start writing SEO optimised blogs. As always, keep your audience in mind when writing. Keep the tone casual, cheery and try to avoid too much technical language. Of course, this will depend on who you’re writing to – if you’re writing to lawyers, for example, adhere a formal tone.
Above all, keep your content factually true. Always reference the source if you’re going to use figures, stats or quotes.
